What it is?

The “sunday morning badminton brunch” is an inaugural badminton event for badminton players of all levels. It is a three-hour event of playminton format, that aims to give players an opportunity for playing in a fun yet competitive atmosphere and enjoy the sport

Play starts ar 9am, so make sure to arrive in time to change and warm-up

The event takes place in Beach arena / Riga Volleyball centre venue in Riga.

How to get there

By car - see the parking zone available inside the territory

By public transport - tram line 5, stop "Lugažu iela" will get you to the venue.

How the event is played

The event uses the “Playminton format” which is rotational doubles. That means:

  • The players sign up individually
  • each game is played as a double with a different partner.
  • Typically each match is played as single 21-point game (this might vary a little depending on total number of players).
  • The format ensures that players and opponents are rotated on a fair basis, so everyone gets to play together with everyone else in their group.
  • The total sum of all the points across all matches is counted as final result for each player. Whoever gets the most total points, wins the group.

Rules for the play

  • Standard BWF laws of badminton are applied.
  • A match always ends at 21 points (21-20 scores are valid).
  • Players use their own shuttles. Both nylon and feather shuttles are permitted.
  • Players can agree on brand and type of shuttle used at the start of each match.
  • In case of dispute, Yonex Mavis nylon shuttles are to be used and will be provided by organizer.

Entry fees

Entry fee for the event is 15€ per player. Entry fee must be paid via bank transfer or upon registration at the event. It will not be possible to pay using card!

The venue consistsof two parts - the beach volleyball and multifuncional hall. The entrance will lead you into beach volleyball zone, where dressing rooms are located.

Then take the walk to the left side between beach volley and padel courts, to the door leading to multisports hall.
